African Caribbean Leukaemia TrustEstablished in 1996 by Beverley De-Gale and Orin Lewis (step-dad), the parents of former Leukaemia sufferer Daniel De-Gale. Our aim is to raise awareness and increase Black representation on the UK Bone Marrow register. Finding a match is greater if the donor is from the same racial background. After 24 years only 550 Black people had ever joined the register. The ACLT has helped raise it to approx. 15,000. We also offer support to Black people suffering with Leukaemia and all other Blood related cancers. Leukaemia strikes at random, is not contagious or hereditary but unlike Sickle Cell Anaemia, High Blood Pressure or Lupus, is not thought of as a Black illness.
Bone Marrow Donor Registers WorldwideBone Marrow Donors Worldwide (BMDW) is the continuing effort to collect the HLA phenotypes of volunteer stem cell donors and cord blood units, and for the coordination of their worldwide distribution. Participants are 53 stem cell donor registries from 39 countries, and 35 cord blood registries from 21 countries.

The Anthony Nolan TrustThe Anthony Nolan Trust provides bone marrow donors for patients in need of a lifesaving transplant. If this is your first visit to our site we hope you will find it informative and useful It's hard to believe that it is now 30 years since Shirley Nolan set out on a quest to save the life of her little son, Anthony. That challenge sadly failed, but thankfully Anthony's illness and subsequent death was not to be in vain. Since those early days thousands of patients throughout the world have been given the chance that Anthony Nolan never had . . . .the chance of life. Volunteer donors are the lifeblood of the Trust and if you are young, fit and healthy we need to hear from you now - particularly if you are male!
Transplant Sport UKWe are a registered Charity whose main aim is to raise awareness of the need for organ donation in the UK and worldwide. Through organising sports and social events for transplant recipients we can show the benefits of organ donation and prove that you can lead a normal and active life again after transplantation. Founded as a result of the first ‘Transplant Olympics’ held in Portsmouth in 1978, we have a varied membership throughout the UK – aged from 4 to 80 – all having received the life-saving gift of a major organ.
